A multiple-trip construction equipment permit for an overweight unit may be issued only after route approval by the Department of Transportation, Division of Operations, or its designee. A multiple-trip permit for an overweight unit requires overweight route verification every 30 days. Verification shall be obtained by contacting the permit center. The permit center will issue a permit authorization number to the permit holder and the permit holder shall write the permit authorization number on the permit along with the current date to validate the multiple-trip permit for another 30 days of overweight movement.
Before making a move, the permit holder must inspect the proposed route of travel to verify that no width or height restrictions exist which will prohibit the proposed move. If the proposed route of travel cannot be inspected, the permit holder shall contact a permit-issuing authority to ensure that no prohibitive restrictions exist.
