Section 10A:13-5.2 - Purpose, effectiveness and termination of job/wage variances
(a) Job/wage variances are intended to provide a formalized process for creating a job compensation variant because the responsibility, duties or abilities required for that job differ from those for an existing job title.
(b) Only approved job/wage variances shall be permitted to change an inmate job title and/or wage amount.
(c) Job/wage variances shall stay in effect indefinitely unless specifically terminated or suspended for a designated period of time by the Commissioner or designee when:
1. The particular circumstance(s) surrounding the original job/wage variance no longer exists;
2. The Commissioner, Central Office IJWC or the correctional facility IJWC no longer approve the job/wage variance;
3. The Commissioner, Central Office IJWC or the correctional facility IJWC determine that suspension of a job/wage variance is justified and deemed necessary. In these cases, the reason for the suspension and the period of time shall be documented; or
4. Any other reason related to the variance as determined by the Commissioner or designee.
