§ 1007. Duties and responsibilities of the members of the Capitol Police

Within the jurisdiction of the Capitol District and subject to the exceptions established in § 1003(e) and 1005(a) of this title, the members of the Capitol Police shall have, without it being understood as a limitation, the following duties, obligations, and responsibilities:

(a) To protect life and property;

(b) to prevent crime and disturbances;

(c) to observe and compel observance of laws, regulations, and municipal ordinances;

(d) to observe and ensure the protection of the civil rights of the people;

(e) to exhibit an exemplary conduct;

(f) to take the necessary precautions to guarantee the protection of any person detained;

(g) to show courtesy to the public and provide assistance to any persons who so require;

(h) to observe the orders lawfully issued by their superiors, and

(i) to be on time in their official engagements and diligent in discharging their duties, always acting in a composed, serene, and fair manner.
