§ 6944. Studies

(a) The Electric Power Authority, the Department of Transportation and Public Works, the Highway Authority, and the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority are hereby directed to conduct a study on the needs for adequate infrastructure and on ways in which to improve and finance the same, in consultation with the Planning Board and the Tourism Company, so as to lay the groundwork for drafting a Strategic Plan for the Special Mountain Region Tourist District by municipality and for preparing a visual and narrative documentary in digital format, in order for the same to be distributed among the town halls of municipalities comprised within said district so as to give the documentary proper public exposure.

(b) The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture is hereby directed to conduct a comprehensive study of the distinctive cultural elements, history, legends, traditions, and historic landmarks of the Special Mountain Region Tourist District, in order for these elements to be incorporated into and considered in the drafting of the Strategic Plan set forth in this chapter. Likewise, the Department of Agriculture shall be responsible for conducting a comprehensive study on the group of tourism-related activities and accommodations organized by farmers, in accordance with the provisions contained in the Reglamento para el establecimiento del turismo rural [lit.: “Regulation for the Establishment of Rural Tourism”], so that they can be incorporated into said Plan.
