§ 203b. Board of Examiners—Appointment and qualifications

(a) When this act becomes effective, the Governor shall appoint the Board members as follows: four (4) members for a term of three (3) years, and three (3) for a term of two (2) years. Subsequent appointments shall be for a term of three (3) years. When vacancies arise before the end of a term, the Governor of Puerto Rico shall appoint the substitute for the remainder of the term. No member shall be appointed for more than two (2) consecutive terms.

(b) The Association of Nursing Professionals of Puerto Rico, the association, federation or college that represents the licensed practical nurses of Puerto Rico, the unions or bona fide organizations that represent female and male nurses may submit candidates for membership on the Board to the Governor of Puerto Rico for his consideration.

(c) The female or male nurses on the Board shall be persons licensed to practice nursing in Puerto Rico pursuant to the stipulations of §§ 203—203r of this title, with not less than five (5) years of experience in nursing. They must be citizens or legal residents of the United States of America and be residents of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
