§ 203a. Board of Examiners—Organization

(a) The Board of Female and Male Nurse Examiners attached to the Department of Health is hereby reorganized. The Board and the Department of Health shall establish the consultation and coordination mechanisms and shall adopt the necessary agreements to carry out their respective functions related to the regulation and certification of female and male nurses licensed to practice nursing in Puerto Rico.

(b) The Board shall be composed of seven (7) members who shall be persons licensed to practice nursing in Puerto Rico. Five (5) of the members shall be female or male nurses representing the associate, general and specialized categories; the remaining two (2) shall be licensed practical female or male nurses.

(c) The members of the Board shall be appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico with the advice and consent of the Senate.

(d) The position of Executive Director of the Board, who shall be a female or male nurse with the qualifications and functions provided by the Board in its regulations, is hereby created.
