The duties and faculties of the Board shall be:
(1) To adopt those rules and regulations that are necessary to carry out the purposes of this chapter.
(2) To evaluate every request for licenses and recertifications submitted before the Board.
(3) To authorize the practice of the profession of dental technologists in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico through the granting of licenses, and establish the mechanisms needed for the recertification of professionals, pursuant to the provisions of §§ 3001 et seq. of Title 24.
(4) To issue, deny, suspend, duplicate or revoke licenses for the reasons consigned in this chapter.
(5) To keep an updated record of the licenses issued, consigning the name and address of the professional, personal data, license number, date of issue and effectiveness thereof, and everything regarding the recertification.
(6) To prepare and administer revalidation examinations.
(7) To develop an information and recording system that allows the establishment of a statistical ratio between the results of the revalidation and the characteristics of the candidates, such as: age, sex, school they come from academic index, among others.
(8) To attend to and solve all claims filed for violations of the provisions of this chapter or the regulations adopted by virtue thereof, after due notice and hearing.
(9) To issue summons by certified mail with acknowledgment of receipt for the appearance of witnesses or interested parties, and require the presentation of pertinent documents to be used as documentary evidence in any hearing held to comply with the purposes of this chapter. Should the duly notified parties or witnesses fail to appear, or if the required documents are not delivered, the Board may seek the assistance of the Court of First Instance to request the appearance, or the delivery of the documentary evidence. Failure to obey such order shall constitute contempt of court.
(10) To take statements and oaths and receive the evidence submitted to it with respect to matters of its competence.
(11) To comply with that which is provided in §§ 2101 et seq. of Title 3, known as the “Uniform Administrative Procedures Act of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico”, in exercising the faculties granted through this chapter to regulate, investigate and adjudicate the matters under its jurisdiction.
(12) To adopt an official seal for the handling of their affairs.
