§ 629. Qualifications and compensation

The members of the Board, including public employees and officials, shall be citizens of the United States of North America and legal residents of the Commonwealth at the time of their appointment. They shall have been practicing the profession of agronomist for at least ten (10) years and been members of the College of Agronomists, and except for the members of the first appointed Board, shall hold license to practice the profession of agronomist in Puerto Rico. Each member of the Board shall receive a compensation of fifty dollars ($50) for each day in which they render services by attending a session of the Board or of any of its committees, and for necessary travels in the performance of their duties; furthermore, they shall be entitled to payment of mileage pursuant to the regulations of the Department of the Treasury on Travel and Per Diem Expenses, as amended. As of January 1, 1999, the members of the Board shall receive per diems equal to the minimum per diems established for members of the Legislature, up to a maximum of three thousand dollars ($3,000) per year, except for the Chairperson of the Board, who shall receive per diems equal to one hundred and thirty-three percent (133%) of the per diems received by the other members of the Board.
