The agronomist license may be cancelled by the Board of Examiners of Agronomists with prior formulation of charges and the opportunity of defense for the person whose behavior is in question.
Agronomist licenses issued after the approval of this act shall be every five (5) years, subject to the requirements set forth in this chapter and regulation to be adopted by the Board of Examiners of Agronomists. The renewal process shall be carried out within thirty (30) days prior to the date of expiration of the license of agronomist.
All agronomists applying for renewal of their professional license must have taken continuing education courses relative to agricultural sciences, for the number of hours and on the subjects that the Board deems necessary, which shall include professional ethics for agronomists. The Examining Board shall regulate on the continuing education requirements that shall be mandatory in order to renew an agronomist license, but the same shall not exceed forty (40) hours per year. Only shall courses offered by institutions accredited and certified by the Examining Board be approved.
Any agronomist who has obtained a lifetime license shall be under the obligation to take continuing education courses within five (5)-year periods as of June 1, 2008. The Board and the Association are hereby empowered to regulate and record compliance with this provision.
To renew the license, the agronomist shall prove having complied with the requirements set forth by the Board of Examiners of Agronomists by means of the presentation of a certification provided by the College of Agronomists.
Not submitting the required evidence shall hinder the renewal of the license, unless the Board, at its discretion, determines that there is just cause for not doing so.
The College shall maintain an updated record of each person admitted into the practice of the profession, which shall include, among others, a registry of their valid educational courses, seminars, workshops, or activities, and it shall certify the total credit hours completed by the member at the time of requesting the renewal of the license to the Board of Examiners.
