The terms listed hereinbelow shall have the meaning set forth in this section. Those not defined shall have the meaning construed by educators:
(1) Accreditation.— The official recognition granted to a school by the General Education Council after an evaluation process in the course of which it is proven that it operates at satisfactory levels of excellence and quality in the academic aspect as well as in the administrative one.
(2) Council.— The General Education Council.
(3) Previous Council.— The General Education Council created by Act No. 68 of August 28, 1990, as amended, known as the “Organic Act of the Department of Education of the Commonwealth.”
(4) School.— Refers to the facilities and the site of an educational building as well as to the institution in whose name study courses or programs are offered.
(5) Authorization or operating license.— Permit issued by the Council to establish and operate municipal and private schools in Puerto Rico pursuant to the terms and conditions stated therein.
(6) Renewal license.— Permit issued by the Council to continue operating municipal and private schools which have proven their capacity and operational feasibility.
