§ 1018. Functions of the Historical Archive of the Legislative Assembly

The functions and duties of the Executive Director of the Historical Archive of the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico shall be the following:

(1) To establish guidelines and controls to be followed for the proper management, preservation, conservation, and security of the historical and documentary heritage of the Legislative Assembly, including the document classification system and conservation techniques as necessary;

(2) to create the Rules for the Management of the Historical Heritage of the Legislative Assembly, as well as their implementation and strict observance;

(3) to provide advice on the infrastructure necessary to preserve, organize, and make such documentary wealth known to the public;

(4) to provide training for the conservation, organization, promotion, and destination of the documents and collections in the deposits of the Historic Archive of the Legislative Assembly;

(5) to promote the enrichment of our documentary wealth;

(6) to keep a catalog of all documents under the custody of the Archive, which shall be available to the public on the website of the Office of Legislative Services;

(7) to establish a document digitization process, so as to make such documents accessible to researchers and the general public on the Internet;

(8) to file an Annual Progress Report of the Historical Archive of the Legislative Assembly with the Office of the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House, and

(9) to establish a remote digital archive that contains all historical documents and collections of the Historical Archive.
