§ 854. Tax exemption

(a) The purposes for which the Corporation is created and for which it shall exercise its powers are public purposes for the benefit of the People of Puerto Rico, and the exercise thereof constitutes the fulfillment of the essential government functions. For such reasons, the Corporation is hereby exempted from the payment of any taxes, duties or imposts on any real property which it acquires or is under its jurisdiction, authority, control, domain, possession or supervision.

(b) The Corporation’s appearance before the courts of Puerto Rico shall be exempted from the payment of the duties established by §§ 1476—1482 of Title 32, and from the payment of the Property Registry fees established by §§ 1767a—1767c of Title 30.
