For the purposes of this chapter the following terms shall have the meaning stated hereinbelow:
(1) Business engaged in selling, leasing or training watchdogs and security dogs.— Means any business, whether duly incorporated pursuant to the Laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or not, is devoted to the sale, lease or training of watchdogs, security dogs or guide dogs.
(2) Watchdogs and security dogs.— Means those dogs also known in English as sentry dogs, especially trained to provide protection and security without human supervision, in properly enclosed properties, whether industrial, commercial or residential.
(3) Dogs trained to detect drugs, narcotics and explosives.— Means those dogs especially trained in the security task of detecting and locating drugs, narcotics and explosives through the use of their olfactory and auditory senses, or both.
(4) Owners.— Means those natural or juridical persons who own any business devoted to the sale, lease or training of watchdogs, security dogs or guide dogs.
(5) Operators.— Means those persons, be they natural persons, whether owners or not, who operate a business engaged in selling, leasing or providing certain training programs for dogs.
(6) Trainers.— Means those persons duly trained in the various techniques for training dogs to control and modify their conduct, subject to the provisions of this chapter.
