§ 551. Public policy

This Legislature resolves and declares as public policy of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, that health education at all levels of the public education system is one of the areas which must be stressed, to teach students methods to prevent diseases, stay healthy and improve their conditions of life in all physical, social, and emotional aspects. To those effects, the Department of Education of Puerto Rico shall strengthen and extend the school health program, including courses and practical workshops on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), in the measure available resources permit, in order to take into consideration the health of school age children, prevailing health habits in the home and in the community where they share medical facilities offered by the community and education in health matters.
