Rule 5.214 - Redactions to be made in unsealed cases and hearings open to the public(a) Except as otherwise provided by another rule or statute, or direction by the court, unless the case has been sealed, parties must refrain from including-or must partially redact, where inclusion is necessary-the following personal-data identifiers from all documents filed with the court, including exhibits:(1) Social security numbers. If a social security number must be included, only the last four digits of that number should be used;(2) Financial account numbers. If financial account numbers must be included, only the last four digits of these numbers should be used; and(3) Tax identification numbers. If a tax identification number must be used, only the last four digits of that number should be used.(b) The same limitations apply to oral presentations in open court during any hearing not made private under these rules.Added effective 6/10/2022.
