Section 61-40-8 - Milking bar or parlor construction and maintenance8.1. Each farm shall have a milking barn or milking parlor of adequate size and arrangement to permit normal sanitary milking operations. Such milking barn or parlor shall be well lighted and ventilated, and the floors and gutters in the milking area shall be constructed of concrete or other impervious material. The milking barn or parlor construction must be approved by the commissioner before milking can begin. 8.2. The milking barn or parlor shall be kept clean, with the manure removed daily and stored to prevent access of animals to the accumulation of the manure. No swine, fowl or other domestic or wild animals shall be permitted in any part of the milking area. 8.3. If milk is exposed during straining or transferring in the milking areas it shall be protected from falling particles from areas above the milking facility.
