Section 64:28:03:04.03 - Verification of cost of repair of damaged motor vehicle

The department may verify the validity of an insurance adjuster's report or a written estimate with regard to the labor, parts, paint, and framework costs required to return a damaged motor vehicle or boat to its predamaged condition. If the department determines that the cost of repairing the vehicle or boat to its predamaged condition exceeds $5,000, the department shall recall the current vehicle or boat title if it is not in its possession and shall indicate a damage notation on it.
