A registered dietitian shall ensure a nutritional assessment is shall be completed and documented on each new resident on therapeutic diets upon admission; on any resident having a significant change in diet, eating ability, nutritional status, or weight loss or gain; and on any resident with a disease or condition that puts the resident at significant nutritional risk. An annual assessment shall be completed for each resident.
Any resident with a tube feeding a monthly tube feeding assessment shall include nutritional adequacy of calories, protein, and fluids. This nutritional assessment shall be performed by a registered dietitian or by a health care provider licensed pursuant to SDCL 36 with the education preparation to perform an advanced nutritional assessment.
