The State Board of Physical Therapy may grant a full or partial waiver of the continuing education requirements in this chapter if the physical therapist or physical therapist assistant submits an affidavit to the board stating that the applicant was prevented from completing the requirements because of any circumstance listed in SDCL 36-10-51. Before attempting to renew a license, a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant must submit the affidavit for a waiver to the board at least thirty days prior to the expiration of the two-year period referenced in § 20:66:03:01.
