Current through Register Vol. 46, No. 45, November 2, 2024
Section 4.47 - Executive order no. 47: declaring a disaster emergency in yates, allegany and steuben counties and contiguous areas

WHEREAS, severe storms continuing to affect the communities of western New York State have resulted in flooding and have caused personal hardship, damage to residential and commercial properties and the agricultural community, as well as disruption of vital public transportation systems in Yates, Allegany and Steuben Counties, and contiguous areas;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mario M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York, do hereby find that, as a result of these continuing storm systems, the existing emergency situation has become more serious, complex and widespread and that local governments are unable to adequately respond, and therefore, I hereby declare, pursuant to the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of New York and section 28 of article 2-B of the Executive Law, that the State disaster emergency, effective June 17, 1984, is expanded to include Yates County, all of Steuben County, remains in effect for Allegany County, and includes any affected contiguous areas.

FURTHER, pursuant to section 29 of article 2-B of the State Executive Law, I direct the continued execution of the State Disaster Preparedness Plan and authorize the State Emergency Management Office, the State Department of Transportation, and other State agencies as necessary, to take appropriate actions to assist Yates, Allegany and Steuben Counties and contiguous areas in restoring vital public transportation systems and to provide such other assistance as may be necessary to protect the public health and safety.

Signed: Mario M. CuomoDated: September 5, 1984
