Section 8:34-4.3 - Preceptor for administrative intern
(a) A preceptor shall be responsible for supervising and for scheduling hours and activities for an administrative intern.
(b) A preceptor shall:
1. Hold a current New Jersey nursing home administrator license and shall have held such license for at least five years;
2. Have practiced as a licensed nursing home administrator in a nursing home for at least the last three consecutive years; and
3. Be employed full time in the nursing home at which the training program is to occur.
(c) The preceptor shall notify the Board, in writing, if an administrative intern leaves the program, there is a change of preceptor or there is a change in an approved training plan.
(d) The preceptor shall submit any change in an approved training plan to the Board in writing for reapproval.
(e) The Board may refuse to approve a preceptor for training administrative interns if:
1. There is good cause to believe that the preceptor has failed to provide proper training and supervision for one or more administrative interns previously under the preceptor's responsibility in an administrative intern program;
2. The preceptor has failed to provide an administrative intern training plan in accordance with 8:34-4.2; or
3. The preceptor has been subject to a disciplinary action by the Board within the 12 months immediately preceding the start of the administrative intern program.
(f) A licensed nursing home administrator shall not be a preceptor for more than two administrative interns at any one time.
