Section 10A:4-12.1 - Purpose
(a) In addition to the prohibited acts set forth in this chapter, the Department of Corrections maintains zero tolerance policies as set forth in this subchapter.
(b) The purpose of this subchapter is to:
1. Provide notice to inmates, staff, visitors, volunteers, and other affected individuals that the Department maintains a zero tolerance for certain prohibited and/or criminal acts and for the unauthorized use, misuse, possession, distribution, sale or intent to distribute or sell certain items;
2. Create a safe, secure and orderly environment for correctional facility inmates, staff, volunteers and visitors; and
3. Ensure a disciplinary process that deters certain behaviors and is consistent with correctional objectives.
