Section 10A:10-7.5 - Death of a foreign national inmate
(a) In the event of the death of a foreign national inmate while committed to the custody of the Department of Corrections, the following procedures shall be initiated in addition to applicable provisions of N.J.A.C. 10A:16-7, Critical Illness or Death of Inmates:
1. The correctional facility Center Control supervisor shall immediately notify the Administrator or designee and the Special Investigations Division;
2. The Administrator or designee shall immediately notify the appropriate consulate post, in writing, of the death of the foreign national inmate;
3. The Special Investigations Division shall submit a preliminary investigation report to the Division of Operations as soon as possible or by the end of business on the next business day; and
4. Division of Operations staff shall update the Offender Based Correctional Information System with the date of death of the foreign national inmate utilizing Form 849-IV, Death of an Offender.
