Section Per 901.07 - Adjustment Due to Demotion If an employee is voluntarily demoted, demoted in lieu of layoff or demoted for cause, the employee shall be placed at a step in the lower salary range as follows:
(a) If an employee is voluntarily demoted or demoted in lieu of layoff, the employee shall be placed at the new grade and step closest to, but not exceeding, the employee's salary prior to the demotion. The employee's increment date shall not be adjusted as a result of a voluntary demotion or a demotion in lieu of layoff.(b) If an employee is demoted for cause, the employee shall be placed at the new grade and step closest to, but less than, the employee's salary prior to the demotion. The employee's increment date year shall be adjusted to conform to the waiting periods for the new demotional step placement.N.H. Admin. Code § Per 901.07
