A. The purpose of these rules is to regulate the activity of certifying, inspecting, installing, maintaining and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and fire hoses and/or the certifying, inspecting, installing, integrating, maintaining or servicing of fixed fire suppression equipment and/or systems or fire detection and alarm equipment and/or systems and/or hydrostatic testing Department of Transportation (DOT) fire protection cylinders in the interest of protecting and preserving lives and property pursuant to authority of R.S. 40:1664.1 et seq.La.
