Section I-933 - Labels, Mandatory Information [Formerly 49:3.0601]
A. Labels shall contain prominently and informatively displayed:
1. the true name of the meat or meat product;
2. the word "ingredients" followed by a list of the ingredients when the meat or meat product is made from two or more ingredients;
3. the name and place of business of the manufacturer, packer or distributor;
4. an accurate statement of the quantity of contents; and
5. the Louisiana department permit number of the establishment, the federal inspection legend and establishment number, or the official stamp of any approved state, parish or municipal meat inspection service, on that portion of the label featuring the name of the meat or meat product, or, on the principal display panel, when there are two or more panels; provided: that the name and place of business of the manufacturer, packer or distributor, and the statement of the quantity of contents may be omitted from the labels for meat or meat products not required to be labeled under regulation §925; and provided further, that the permit number or establishment number may be omitted from labels on cartons used outer containers of edible fats, such as lard or olemargarine, when such articles are enclosed in wrappers which bear the department permit number or the federal, state, parish or municipal inspection legend and establishment number.
