Section IX-533 - Exemptions
A. Requests for exemption from these regulations, or any part thereof, shall be made in writing to the director of apprenticeship and shall contain a statement of reasons supporting the request. Exemptions may be granted for good cause. The Apprenticeship Division will immediately notify the U.S. Department of Labor of any such exemptions granted affecting a substantial number of employees and reasons therefore.
B. Partial exemptions may be granted from three requirements namely:
1. adoption of an affirmative action plan;
2. adoption of selection procedures; and
3. discard of existing eligibility lists.
C. Sponsors eligible for exemption are those who are subject to an equal employment opportunity program providing for selection of apprentices, and for affirmative action in apprenticeship which has been approved as meeting requirement of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended ( 42 U.S.C. 2000 e et seq.) and its implementing regulations published in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Chapter XIV, or Executive Order 11246, as amended, and its implementing regulations at Title 41 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Chapter 60.
