Rule 567-63.16 - Sampling procedures for monitoring wells

The following steps shall be taken prior to monitoring well sampling.

(1) Measure depth from top of well head casing to water table.

(2) Calculate quantity of water to be flushed from well using the formula:

Gallons to be pumped = 0.221 d(squared)h, where:

d = well diameter in inches

h = depth in feet of standing water in well prior to pumping

(3) Pump well.

(4) Measure depth from well head casing to water table after pumping.

(5) Wait for well to recharge to or near static water level prior to sampling.
