Section 655 IAC 1-1-1.1 - Definitions

Sec. 1.1.

(a) The definitions in this section apply throughout this article.
(b) "Authority having jurisdiction", for purposes of NFPA standards adopted by the board, means the board.
(c) "Authorized testing agency" means any person or organization that complies with the requirements for testing under this title.
(d) "Authorized training entity" means any person or organization that teaches board-approved programs or courses in compliance with this title.
(e) "Board" means the board of firefighting personnel standards and education.
(f) "Department" means the department of homeland security established under IC 10-19.
(g) "Director" means the executive director of the department.
(h) "Fire service person" means a person eighteen (18) years of age or older who is:
(1) an Indiana resident or active member of an Indiana fire department; and
(2) engaged in:
(A) fire suppression;
(B) fire code enforcement;
(C) fire education;
(D) teaching fire science; or
(E) fire investigation.
(i) "Instructor reciprocity test" means a written examination, approved by the department, containing not fewer than fifty (50) questions that are designed to evidence acceptable comprehension of the rules of the board contained in this article.
(j) "Lead evaluator" means any person who:
(1) supervises or coordinates the administration of practical skills examinations; and
(2) signs off on practical skills examination forms.
(k) "Lead instructor" means the individual instructor who:
(1) creates and approves the curriculum for the entire course; and
(2) manages and oversees the delivery of the course.
(l) "Nonfire service person" means a person eighteen (18) years of age or older who is an Indiana resident.
(m) "Subject matter specialist" means an individual who has significant background, training, and experience in an area of knowledge that is relevant to one (1) or more certification levels created under the board's rules.
(n) "Training division" means the division of preparedness and training established under IC 10-19-5.
