Rule 8-B803 - STUDENT RECORDS: DISCLOSURE AND PRIVACY
803.1

The privacy and confidentiality of all student records, personnel records, and relevant exempt records shall be preserved.

803.2

The University shall comply fully with the provisions of the D.C. Freedom of Information Act, D.C. Law 1-96, which guarantees each student the right to examine his or her official school records and also guarantees the confidentiality of student records.

803.3

Information about D.C. Law 1-96 and the University's implementation shall be available in the Office of Student Affairs. A notice of these rights shall also appear in University publications, such as special announcements, administrative memoranda, and the appropriate student handbooks and shall be supplemented by the annual publication of these or subsequent guidelines and their distribution to students.

803.4

Officers of the administration, members of the faculty, and staff of the University shall respect the good reputation and privacy of each student by holding in confidence information they acquire in the course of their work.

803.5

The University shall make all school records available for inspection by students and their parents (if the students are under eighteen (18) years of age), and shall respond to objections raised to the contents of those records.

803.6

The University shall keep student records safe from review of others except for routine uses within the University.
