When special circumstances require an employee to be absent from the workplace, and leave is recommended by a duly authorized official, administrative leave with pay may be granted.
If a non-faculty employee is unable to vote outside of regular working hours, the immediate supervisor or department head is authorized to grant administrative leave not to exceed three (3) hours.
Administrative leave may be granted to a non-faculty employee belonging to a bargaining unit to handle union business in accordance with the agreement between the labor organization and the University.
An employee may be allowed up to four (4) hours of administrative leave to donate blood. The absence period shall begin upon the completion of the blood donation and end on the same workday the blood donation is made.
A non-faculty employee shall be granted administrative leave for the purpose of taking a medical examination in connection with employment at the University.
If the building in which a non-faculty employee works is closed due to an unforeseen emergency and no alternative work site is available, the employee may be granted administrative leave. However, if the employee is on authorized leave during the period when the building is closed, the employee shall be charged for that leave as taken.
Administrative or professional leave may be granted to a faculty or administrative employee for short periods to attend conferences and for other professional purposes without loss of pay.
