Tuition assistance shall be provided to eligible full-time employees in the form of reimbursement for tuition paid for approved courses at educational institutions other than the School of Law, within budget limits set by the Board and in accordance with guidelines established by the Dean.
To qualify for tuition assistance an employee shall be required to have completed at least one (1) year of continuous employment with the School of Law.
Employees receiving payment for courses under the G.I. Bill of Rights or other scholarships, grants, or funds shall not be reimbursed for courses taken.
An eligible employee may receive a tuition reimbursement, not to exceed the cost of one (1) three credit hour course for each term of enrollment.
Actual payment shall not be authorized until evidence of satisfactory completion of the course with a grade of "pass," "C," or better.
An employee shall be required to remain employed by the School of Law through completion of the course to qualify for reimbursement, and, in addition, the employee shall agree in writing to continue to work at the School of Law after completion of the training course for a period of time at least equal to the length of the training period, unless involuntarily separated from employment.
If the employee voluntarily leaves employment before the end of the period for which the employee had agreed to serve under § 1221.6, the employee shall pay to the School of Law the amount of reimbursement received for the cost of the training.
If an employee fails to repay the amount of reimbursement received for the cost of training, as required in § 1221.7, a sum equal to the amount of reimbursement not repaid shall be recoverable by the School of Law from the employee through deductions from unpaid salary or other payments due to the employee from the School of Law.
