Rule 29-2200 - PURPOSE AND SCOPE
2200.1

The rules in this chapter authorize the designation and operation of isolation and quarantine sites to prevent and control the spread of communicable diseases dangerous to the public's health, which include the following types of sites:

(a) Isolation and quarantine sites designated for individuals experiencing homelessness who:
(1) Have tested positive for COVID-19; or
(2) Have exhibited symptoms of another communicable disease that is communicable by air or casual contact; and
(b) Non-congregate mitigation facilities for individuals experiencing homelessness whose medical condition or advanced age place them at an increased risk of contracting COVID-19 or suffering its worst effects.

The operation of a designated site under this section is a continuation of the Mayor's emergency authority to operate isolation and quarantine sites to prevent and control the spread of communicable and preventable diseases, and is not subject to the requirements of the Homeless Services Reform Act of 2005, effective October 22, 2005 (D.C. Law 16-35; D.C. Official Code §§ 4-751.01et seq.).
