Rule 25-G305 - PREVENTING CONTAMINATION - MARKING INSTRUMENTS AND STENCILS*
305.1

All licensed operators shall use marking instruments that are single- use and shall be used only on intact skin that has been treated with a germicidal soap.

305.2

Marking instruments that come in contact with mucous membranes or broken skin shall be single-use.

305.3

All stencils shall be single-use.

305.4

Petroleum jellies, soaps, and other products used in the application of stencils shall be dispensed and applied using an aseptic technique and in a manner that prevents contamination of the original container and its content.

305.5

If measuring the body-piercing site is necessary, clean calipers shall be used and the skin marked using a single-use disposable implement, which includes a toothpick and non-toxic ink or a single- use skin marker, and discarded immediately after the procedure.
