The organisms of most of these diseases may get into the milk either directly from the udder or indirectly through infected body discharges which may drop, splash, or be blown into the milk.

Note: Additional alternative udder preparation methods may also be used once they have been evaluated by FDA and found acceptable.
Note: Topical antiseptics, wound dressings, (unless intended for direct injection into the teat) vaccines, and other biologies and dosage form vitamins and/or mineral products are exempt from labeling and storage requirements, except when it is determined that they are stored in such a manner that they may contaminate the milk or milk product surfaces of containers or utensils.
