The Chief Information Officer of the Intelligence Community shall submit to the congressional intelligence committees a copy of each inventory compiled under subsection (b)(1).
Not later than 180 days after the date on which the Director of National Intelligence receives recommendations from the Chief Information Officer of the Intelligence Community in accordance with subsection (b)(3), the Director of National Intelligence shall, to the extent practicable, issue guidelines for the intelligence community on software procurement and usage based on such recommendations.

INITIAL INVENTORY Pub. L. 113-126, §307, 128 Stat. 1397, provided that:"(1) INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY ELEMENTS.- "(A) DATE.-Not later than 120 days after the date of the enactment of this Act [July 7, 2014], the chief information officer of each element of the intelligence community shall complete the initial inventory, assessment, and submission required under section 109(a) of the National Security Act of 1947 [50 U.S.C. 3044(a)], as added by subsection (a) of this section. "(B) BASIS.-The initial inventory conducted for each element of the intelligence community under section 109(a)(1) of the National Security Act of 1947 [50 U.S.C. 3044(a)(1)], as added by subsection (a) of this section, shall be based on the inventory of software licenses conducted pursuant to section 305 of the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 (Public Law 112-277; 126 Stat. 2472) for such element."(2) CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER OF THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY.-Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act [July 7, 2014], the Chief Information Officer of the Intelligence Community shall complete the initial compilation and assessment required under section 109(b) of the National Security Act of 1947 [50 U.S.C. 3044(b)], as added by subsection (a)."[For definition of "intelligence community" as used in section 307(b) of Pub. - The term "congressional intelligence committees" means-(A) the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate; and(B) the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives.

- The term "intelligence community" includes the following:(A) The Office of the Director of National Intelligence.(B) The Central Intelligence Agency.(C) The National Security Agency.(D) The Defense Intelligence Agency.(E) The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.(F) The National Reconnaissance Office.(G) Other offices within the Department of Defense for the collection of specialized national intelligence through reconnaissance programs.(H) The intelligence elements of the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marine Corps, the Space Force, the Coast Guard, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Department of Energy.(I) The Bureau of Intelligence and Research of the Department of State.(J) The Office of Intelligence and Analysis of the Department of the Treasury.(K) The Office of Intelligence and Analysis of the Department of Homeland Security.(L) Such other elements of any department or agency as may be designated by the President, or designated jointly by the Director of National Intelligence and the head of the department or agency concerned, as an element of the intelligence community.

- The term "intelligence" includes foreign intelligence and counterintelligence.
- national intelligence
- The terms "national intelligence" and "intelligence related to national security" refer to all intelligence, regardless of the source from which derived and including information gathered within or outside the United States, that-(A) pertains, as determined consistent with any guidance issued by the President, to more than one United States Government agency; and(B) that involves-(i) threats to the United States, its people, property, or interests;(ii) the development, proliferation, or use of weapons of mass destruction; or(iii) any other matter bearing on United States national or homeland security.
