Amendment of Subsection (a)(4) Pub. L. 118-31, div. A, title VI, §601(b), (e), Dec. 22, 2023, 137 Stat. 288, 289, provided that, effective on Oct. 1, 2024, and applicable with respect to periods of parental leave that commence on or after such date, subsection (a)(4) of this section is amended to read as follows:"(4) for a regular period of instruction, period of appropriate duty, or such other equivalent training that a member would be required to perform but does not perform because such member was authorized to take parental leave pursuant to section 711 of title 10."See 2023 Amendment note below.
