Section 1131.253 - Payment of Premiums(a) Subject to Subsection (b), the policyholder must pay the premium for the policy: (1) wholly from funds contributed by the employer or employers, the labor union or unions, or both; or(2) partly from funds described by Subdivision (1) and partly from funds contributed by the insureds.(b) An insured's contribution toward the cost of the insurance may not exceed 40 cents per month for each $1,000 of insurance coverage.(c) The policy may provide that a participating employer or labor union may pay the premium directly to the insurer for the policy issued to the trustee. If payment is made as provided by this subsection, the employer or labor union is the premium payor for the insured employees or union members for that employer unit.Tex. Ins. Code § 1131.253
