(a) The commission may employ staff, including an executive director and a general counsel, necessary to administer the commission's functions.(b) The commission may not employ a person and an employee of the commission may not continue in employment with the commission if the person at the time of employment or while employed by the commission is:(1) an officer of a political party, a political subdivision, or a political committee;(2) a person required to be registered under Chapter 305;(3) a candidate or campaign treasurer subject to Title 15, Election Code; or(4) a member of the legislature.Tex.
