Section 508.083 - Eligibility to Represent Inmates(a) A person who represents an inmate for compensation must: (1) be an attorney licensed in this state; and(2) register with the division.(b) A person serving as a member or employee of the board or the Texas Board of Criminal Justice may not, before the second anniversary of the date the person ceases to be a board member or employee:(1) represent any person in a matter before the board or a parole panel; or(2) receive compensation for services rendered on behalf of any person regarding a matter pending before the board or a parole panel.(c) A person, other than a person subject to Subsection (b), who is employed by the department may not, before the second anniversary of the date the person terminates service with the department:(1) represent an inmate in a matter before the board or a parole panel; or(2) receive compensation for services rendered on behalf of any person regarding a matter pending before the board or a parole panel.(d) Repealed by Acts 2003, 78th Leg., ch ch 1007, Sec. 2.Tex.
