Section 442.0072 - Preservation and Maintenance of Gethsemane Church and Carrington-Covert House(a) In this section: (1) The Gethsemane Church includes the adjoining grounds of the church.(2) The Carrington-Covert House includes the adjoining grounds of the house.(b) The State of Texas owns the Gethsemane Church and the Carrington-Covert House.(c) The church and the house are located at Congress Avenue and 16th Street on Lots 5, 6, 7, and 8, Outlot 46, Division "E" of the original City of Austin, Travis County, Texas.(d) The commission shall preserve, maintain in a state of suitable repair, restore, and develop the church and the house, their contents, and their grounds, in the manner determined by the commission, for the beautification and cultural enhancement of the properties as a significant Texas historical site and in a manner consistent with development of the Capitol Complex.(e) The commission shall spend the money the legislature appropriates for purposes of this section to accomplish those purposes.(f) The commission may: (1) accept gifts and donations for the church and the house; and(2) use the gifts and donations in accordance with the donor's conditions and instructions that are consistent with this section.Tex.
