Section 342.501 - Obligation Under More Than One Contract(a) An authorized lender may not induce or permit a person or a husband and wife to be directly or indirectly obligated under more than one loan contract at any time for the purpose or with the effect of obtaining an amount of interest greater than the amount of interest otherwise authorized under this chapter for a loan of that aggregate amount with a maximum interest charge computed under Section 342.201(a), Section 342.201(e), Section 342.252, or any combination of those sections.(b) Subsection (a) does not prohibit the purchase of a bona fide retail installment contract or revolving charge agreement of a borrower for the purchase of goods or services.(c) A lender who purchases all or substantially all of the loan contracts of another authorized lender and who at the time of purchase has a loan contract with a borrower whose loan contract is purchased may collect principal and authorized charges according to the terms of each loan contract.Amended By Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 916, Sec. 5, eff. 9/1/2001.Amended by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 62, Sec. 7.19(a), eff. 9/1/1999
