Section 22.007 - Court; County Court, Probate Court, and Statutory Probate Court(a) "Court" means and includes:(1) a county court in the exercise of its probate jurisdiction;(2) a court created by statute and authorized to exercise original probate jurisdiction; and(3) a district court exercising original probate jurisdiction in a contested matter.(b) The terms "county court" and "probate court" are synonymous and mean:(1) a county court in the exercise of its probate jurisdiction;(2) a court created by statute and authorized to exercise original probate jurisdiction; and(3) a district court exercising probate jurisdiction in a contested matter.(c) "Statutory probate court" means a court created by statute and designated as a statutory probate court under Chapter 25, Government Code. For purposes of this code, the term does not include a county court at law exercising probate jurisdiction unless the court is designated a statutory probate court under Chapter 25, Government Code.Added by Acts 2009, 81st Leg., R.S., Ch. 680, Sec. 1, eff. 1/1/2014.
