Section 55-4-343 - Cancer awareness(a)(1) An owner or lessee of a motor vehicle who is a resident of this state, upon complying with state motor vehicle laws relating to registration and licensing of motor vehicles and paying the regular fee applicable to the motor vehicle and the fee provided for in § 55-4-204, shall be issued a Driving to a Cure (Pink Ribbon) new specialty earmarked license plate for a motor vehicle authorized by § 55-4-210(c).(2) The new specialty earmarked plates provided for in this subsection (a) must include the phrase "Driving to a Cure" in an appropriate design. The plates must also include a pictorial representation of the universally recognized symbol for breast cancer awareness, the pink ribbon. The plates must be designed in consultation with a representative of the department of health.(3) The funds produced from the sale of Driving to a Cure (Pink Ribbon) new specialty earmarked license plates must be allocated to the department of health, in accordance with § 55-4-301. The funds must be used exclusively for breast screening, prevention, and diagnostic services.(b)(1) An owner or lessee of a motor vehicle who is a resident of this state, upon complying with state motor vehicle laws relating to registration and licensing of motor vehicles and paying the regular fee applicable to the motor vehicle and the fee provided in § 55-4-204, shall be issued a Childhood Cancer Awareness new specialty earmarked license plate for a motor vehicle authorized by § 55-4-210(c).(2) The new specialty earmarked license plates authorized by this subsection (b) must be of an appropriate design or logo representative of the mission of The Grayson Foundation. The plates must be designed in consultation with a representative from The Grayson Foundation.(3) The funds produced from the sale of Childhood Cancer Awareness new specialty earmarked license plates must be allocated to The Grayson Foundation, in accordance with § 55-4-301. The funds must be used exclusively in this state to provide resources and financial assistance to families who have a child with cancer.(c)(1) An owner or lessee of a motor vehicle who is a resident of this state, upon complying with state motor vehicle laws relating to registration and licensing of motor vehicles and paying the regular fee applicable to the motor vehicle and the fee provided for in § 55-4-204, shall be issued an Ovarian Cancer Awareness new specialty earmarked license plate for a motor vehicle authorized by § 55-4-210(c).(2) The new specialty earmarked plates provided for in this subsection (c) must be designed in consultation with a representative of Tennessee in Teal.(3) The funds produced from the sale of Ovarian Cancer Awareness new specialty earmarked license plates must be allocated to Tennessee in Teal, in accordance with § 55-4-301. The funds must be used exclusively in this state to help women navigate the challenges of ovarian cancer through programs of research, education, support, and advocacy, including assisting with screening, prevention, and diagnostic services.Amended by 2024 Tenn.
