Section 49-7-105 - Campus traffic control(a) A municipal corporation in which a state college or university is located is authorized to prescribe and enforce traffic ordinances on the campus of the institution.(b) A municipal corporation shall not begin to prescribe and enforce traffic ordinances on the campus of the state institution within its borders until thirty (30) days after the date on which the state university and community college system, for a state college or university under its control, or the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee, for the University of Tennessee, requests the governing body of the municipal corporation to begin to prescribe and enforce traffic ordinances on the campus of the state institution.(c) The municipal corporation shall cease to prescribe and enforce traffic ordinances on the campus of the state institution within thirty (30) days after the date upon which the state university and community college system, for the state colleges and universities under its control, or the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee, for the University of Tennessee, requests the governing body of the municipal corporation to cease prescribing and enforcing traffic ordinances on the campus of the state institution.(d) Nothing in this section shall be construed as preventing a municipal corporation from enforcing traffic ordinances on its streets within the campus.Acts 1959, ch. 119, § 1; 1973, ch. 144, § 1; T.C.A., § 49-3225.
