Section 74.09.559 - Long-acting injectable buprenorphine-Billing codes-Reimbursement(1) The authority shall establish appropriate billing codes for hospitals and psychiatric hospitals that administer long-acting injectable buprenorphine on an outpatient basis to use for billing patients enrolled in a medical assistance program.(2) Upon initiation or renewal of a contract with the authority to administer a medicaid managed care plan, a managed care organization must reimburse a hospital or psychiatric hospital that bills for the administration of long-acting injectable buprenorphine on an outpatient basis as a separate reimbursable expense.(3) Beginning January 1, 2025, for individuals enrolled in a medical assistance program that is not a medicaid managed care plan, the authority must reimburse a hospital or psychiatric hospital that bills for the administration of long-acting injectable buprenorphine on an outpatient basis administered as a separate reimbursable expense.(4) Reimbursements provided under this section must be separate from any bundled payment for outpatient hospital or emergency department services.
