Section 141-C - Emergency Education Relief to Nonpublic Schools(a)Application and reporting.--From money appropriated for COVID Relief--GEER--Emergency Assistance to Nonpublic Schools during the 2020-2021 fiscal year, the following shall apply:(1) The Department of Education shall provide to nonpublic schools that are eligible to apply for money under this section a notice and application which includes the appropriate uses of the money and any other information required. The notice and application shall be provided no later than 30 days after the Commonwealth receives the money from the Federal Government.(2) The Department of Education shall approve or deny an application under this section no later than 30 days after the receipt of the application.(3) The Department of Education may not apply additional eligibility criteria in addition to Federal law or Federal guidance.(4) The Department of Education shall submit an interim report to the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Appropriations Committee of the Senate, the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives, the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Education Committee of the Senate and the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Education Committee of the House of Representatives 90 days after an award of money is made under this section. The report shall include the number of approved and denied applications, the amount of each award and the intended uses of the money as stated in the applications.(5) The Department of Education shall submit a final report to the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Appropriations Committee of the Senate, the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives, the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Education Committee of the Senate and the chairperson and minority chairperson of the Education Committee of the House of Representatives by January 1, 2022. The report shall include the number of approved and denied applications under this section, the amount of each award and the intended uses of the money as stated in the applications.(a.1)Reallocation.--From money appropriated for Emergency Education Relief to Nonpublic Schools in 2020-2021, $1,400,000 shall be reallocated to the amount appropriated for COVID Relief GEER during the 2020-2021 fiscal year. The funding shall only be used in accordance with Federal regulations and this section to support nonpublic schools.(b)Definition.--As used in this section, the term "GEER" means the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund described under section 312 of Title III of Division M of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021.Amended by P.L.
