In any case where the trustees of the proprietors of any certified township of this Commonwealth have been incorporated by any law of this Commonwealth, and in such act of incorporation there is a limitation of the amount of property which such corporation may at any one time hold, the excess of the money or property held by any such corporation over and above such limitation shall be paid or caused to be paid by such corporation to the school district of such certified township if such school district shall comprise the whole of said township; or if such certified township shall contain wholly within it two or more public school districts, then to such school districts; or if such certified township shall contain one or more public school districts wholly within it and a part or parts of a public school district or school districts also in such township, then to the school districts which lie wholly within such township and to the school district or school districts parts of which lie in such township, proportionately, for the part or parts thereof which are in such township; and the distribution shall be made or caused to be made by such corporation according to the method now prescribed by the laws of this Commonwealth for the apportionment of the State appropriation for the maintenance and support of the public schools of this Commonwealth to the school districts of the subdivisions into which such certified township is divided.
