Section 12122 - Election; term; election by council in case of tie(a) The mayor shall be chosen at the municipal election, and shall hold office for the term of four years and until his successor is elected and qualified. He shall be eligible to the office for one successive term and shall not thereafter be eligible for a successive term.(b) If two or more candidates be equal and highest in votes, one of them shall be chosen mayor by a vote of the majority of all the members of the incoming council, immediately upon its organization.1919, June 25, P.L. 581, art.
