Section 5469 - Appropriations by cities of first, second and second A classes

Any city of the first class, second class, and second class A shall have power to appropriate, annually, a sum not exceeding seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750) for the support, maintenance, discipline, and training of any dismounted company or similar unit of the National Guard, and a sum, not exceeding one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500), for the support and maintenance of any mounted or motorized troop or similar unit of the National Guard. Where such units are organized as a battalion, regiment or similar organization, the total amount appropriated may be paid to the commanding officer of the battalion, regiment or similar organization.

The moneys so appropriated shall be paid by warrant in the usual manner to the commanding officer of such company, battalion, regiment, unit or similar organization, only when it shall be certified to the controller of the city, by the Adjutant General of the Commonwealth, that the said company, battalion, regiment, unit or organization has satisfactorily passed the annual inspection provided by law.
